Allgemeines

Auf dieser Seite finden Studierende der Turkologie Informationen zu einem Auslandsaufenthalt im Rahmen des ERASMUS-Studierendenaustauschs.

Ein ERASMUS-Auslandssemester kommt im Rahmen des B.A.-, M.A.- oder Promotionsstudiums in Frage. In jeder Studienphase ist jeweils eine Förderung möglich. Studierende im B.A.-Programm müssen bei Stipendienantritt mindestens das zweite Fachsemester abgeschlossen haben. Im Fach Turkologie empfehlen wir einen Auslandsaufenthalt in der Regel ab dem vierten Fachsemester.

Die Vorbereitungen für einen Auslandsaufenthalt sollten spätestens ein Jahr vor dem geplanten Aufenthalt beginnen. Bewerbungsschluss (institutsintern) für das folgende ERASMUS-Jahr ist jeweils der 15. Januar. Die Bewerbung ist an den ERASMUS-Fachkoordinator der Abteilung Turkologie zu richten.

ERASMUS-Stipendien sind Teilstipendien, das heißt, sie decken nicht die gesamten Kosten des Auslandsaufenthaltes ab. Abhängig vom Einkommen der Eltern kann einen Ko-Finanzierung über Auslands-BAföG in Frage kommen.

Die Abteilung Turkologie unterhält bilaterale Abkommen mit den folgenden Universitäten (teilweise mit Einschränkungen hinsichtlich des Studienniveaus):

Förderungsdauer

Ein Auslandsaufenthalt innerhalb des ERASMUS-Programms ist für ein oder für zwei Semester möglich (3–12 Monate). Für eine zweisemestrige Förderung muss der Stipendienantritt allerdings im Wintersemester liegen.

Sprachkenntnisse

In der Regel sind Kenntnisse der Sprache des Gastlandes auf Mittelstufenniveau für ein erfolgreiches Studium an der Gasthochschule unabdingbar.

Bewerbung

Die Bewerbung erfolgt in folgenden Schritten:

1. Rechtzeitige individuelle Beratung durch den Fachkoordinator (Terminabsprache per E-Mail)
2. Bewerbung beim Fachkoordinator. Die Bewerberinnen und Bewerber werden in eine Bewerberliste aufgenommen.

Folgende Bewerbungsunterlagen sind einzureichen:

  • Motivationsschreiben (1–2 Seiten)
  • Tabellarischer Lebenslauf
  • Auflistung der Studienleistungen

Termin: 15. Januar für das folgende ERASMUS-Jahr

Kriterien:

  • Nur vollständige Bewerbungen werden akzeptiert.
  • Form und Inhalt des Motivationsschreibens sowie die Studienleistungen geben den Ausschlag über die Platzvergabe. Falls sich mehr Bewerber um einen Platz an einer bestimmten Partnerhochschule bewerben als Plätze zur Verfügung stehen, wird Bewerbern, die nicht berücksichtigt werden können, nach Möglichkeit ein Platz an einer anderen Partnerhochschule angeboten.

3. Registrierung auf dem Online-Anmeldeportal für das ERASMUS-Stipendium bei der Abteilung Internationales (Link wird durch den Fachkoordinator mitgeteilt)
4. Ausdruck der Annahmeerklärung und Unterschrift durch den Fachkoordinator
5. Nominierung an der Partnerhochschule durch den Fachkoordinator
6. Anmeldung an der Partnerhochschule durch die Studierenden
7. Erstellung eines Learning Agreements in Absprache mit den Fachkoordinatoren beider Hochschulen

Bitte achten Sie auch darauf, sich rechtzeitig um Unterkunft, Visum etc. zu kümmern!

General information

This page is designed to provide you with the basic information concerning your ERASMUS stay at the JGU Department of Turcology. For general information please consult the website of the JGU International Office.

The Department of Turcology offers courses in Turcology with a focus on Turkic linguistics. Courses on history and literature are offered as well. For details see section Lehrveranstaltungen on this website. The specific teaching program of every term can also be found on JOGU-StINe https://jogustine.uni-mainz.de.
The Department of Turcology is part of Faculty 05: Philosophy and Philology.

In general, the teaching language is German in B.A. and English in M.A. classes. German language courses are offered for incoming students at the Fremdsprachenzentrum. In B.A. classes it is possible to acquire credit points through exams in English or Turkish, depending on consent of the individual professor or lecturer.

Nomination

Before you can register at the University of Mainz, the Departmental Coordinator of your home university has to nominate you at the International Office. It would be appreciated if a copy of the nomination mail is also sent to the Departmental Coordinator.

Application and registration

After nomination you have to apply at JGU. Application deadline is July 15 for the winter term and January 15 for the summer term. Please note that your application must have been received by these deadlines. The application documents are filled in and submitted online, additionally you will have to send a signed printout by mail. Information on the application process can be found here.

Please make sure that you make arrangements for accommodation in time. General information and information on student dormitories can be found here.

Application deadlines for dormitories of the Service International Students (Studierendenwerk) are similar to the deadlines of the university. For details see here.

Please make arrangements for visa application in time as well.

Enrolment will take place in Mainz. You will be informed about the date of enrolment in your letter of acceptance.

Learning Agreement

The Learning Agreement can be completed either before or after arrival at Mainz, depending on the requirements of the sending institution. Learning Agreements have to be signed both by the Departmental Coordinator and by the International Office. This can take some time. Learning Agreements can be modified subsequently by an add-drop list. In case of doubt, you are cordially invited to contact the Departmental Coordinator for advice.

Transcript of Records

Upon request, you will receive a Transcript of Records after each term that contains the courses which you completed with the marks and credit point information. The transcript is issued by the Departmental Coordinator. Please make sure that you provide the coordinator with the necessary information (name, date of birth, registration number, date of enrolment, results of the individual courses).
